Last week, we started distributing food across Puerto Rico through our partners on the island who are networked with 35 churches.

In our first week, Mercy Chefs distributed a staggering 100,000 pounds of food... just in Puerto Rico! Also last week, we launched our Farmers to Families effort on the Florida Panhandle.
Along with our Oklahoma base, these three outreaches alone will reach over 250,000 people this week.

And we still see no end in sight.

+ + 1.5 million more unemployed, second "wave" of layoffs

This week's "jobless claims" report indicates that, once again, nearly 1.5 million Americans will file first time unemployment claims. This is significantly more than analysts were expecting and, for comparison, about SIX TIMES as high as a typical week prior to the coronavirus crisis. We are now a full three months into the crisis. Commentators are pointing to a second wave of layoffs as companies wrestle with the reality of such a prolonged economic shutdown and continued slowdown.

Things just aren't back to "normal" yet and there is a real question regarding if or when "normal" will return!

This leaves Mercy Chefs with a huge challenge...

With just six days left in June, we still need a significant influx of support -- more than $25,000 -- by the end of the month just to keep pace with this level of outreach.

Will you partner with me today so we can provide thousands of meals in the next 24 hours and tens of thousands more in the coming days? Every dollar you donate will go to help reach hurting people right now. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:

I believe the Lord has opened these doors so we could reach more people in more ways than ever before. Just a few months ago, I couldn't have even imagined providing over 200,000 meals in a week. Now, we're doing that week after week!

But every meal and every outreach depends on faithful friends like you!

Please prayerfully consider how you can help. Then, go here to make your gift.

Thanks in advance, and God bless!
