The superintendent of schools in Panama City recently released a report on the status of schools in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

While much work has been done to restore normalcy, one fact shocked me. The report indicated that 3,300 students are still "homeless or displaced form the storm"!
And he says, "More and more of our children are coming to school hungry."

Mercy Chefs is feeding hurting school kids in Panama City, every day, through a partnership with the local schools. We are also housing and feeding volunteer teams who are helping to rebuild homes.

In fact, this month alone, we'll serve more than 7,500 meals to schoolchildren in Panama City -- and many thousands more through other programs across the country.

And every meal relies on the generous support of friends like you!

Will you partner with Mercy Chefs THIS WEEK so we can meet the needs of those still recovering from disaster while we continue other vital efforts? Perhaps you can help sponsor 20 meals (just $50), or even 40 ($100), 100 ($250), or more. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift to help provide hot meals right now:

Our Chef Lisa recently made her EIGHTH trip to Panama City, and she says the "signs of destruction are still very tangible and very real" throughout the community. But the hardest hit of all are the children. In the aftermath of the storm, many families were forced to resort to "couch surfing" -- a phrase that describes the condition of families that go house-to-house, sleeping on whatever couch they can find for the night. The emotional and psychological impact of long-term displacement from a home can be devastating, especially for the kids. The superintendent's report also referenced the "mental health crisis" that the community is facing.

Mercy Chefs is in Panama City right now -- offering hot meals and hope.

But we need your help!

God bless!
