A woman who lives outside of Panama City was letting us know that a family in her community with seven children was in desperate need of help. They didn't have a vehicle and she asked if there was any way Mercy Chefs could get them some food, even though they were about a 25-minute drive away from our base of operations.

After speaking with her for a little while, our team learned that this woman's family also was in need of help and also didn't have a car. Within a day, our team made sure both these large families had the groceries they needed. 

+ + Word spread and the need grew

Then something happened that occurs all the time now with our teams. As word spread, these deliveries quickly turned into five more -- for elderly shut-ins and other hurting families in that community.

This same story is taking place again and again across the country as Mercy Chefs continues to reach out to struggling families during what has become one of the most serious economic crises we have ever seen in our lifetimes. And for each new family we reach, we learn of more who need help.

July is typically a difficult month financially for Mercy Chefs, even more so this year since we'll provide HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of meals before this month is over. So far this month, our funding is not keeping up with the demand.
