In all my years of providing meals to disaster victims, I have never seen a situation in which Mercy Chefs was more needed than right now...
People here and up into Georgia are saying,"We have no food. No water. No power. No phone service." And with each passing hour the desperation grows. Many are losing hope altogether. Some are resorting to looting just to survive. But without power, or food, or water or even a way to call for help, sadly looting has become their last resort.
Starting this evening, Mercy Chefs will have two kitchens operating here in Panama City Beach. We are doing all we can. But there is so much more we need to do and so many more people who need to be reached.
I'm so grateful for everyone who has supported us thus far. But we are facing an ENORMOUS need that has no end in sight! Plus, with our second kitchen now operational, we are DOUBLING our capacity and DOUBLING our need for support.
Can I count on your help TODAY so that Mercy Chefs can provide hot meals to relief workers and disaster victims -- many of whom are still cut off and desperately in need of help? Go here to make your best possible tax-deductible gift to Mercy Chefs right now.
This week alone, Mercy Chefs will serve thousands of meals. The costs are staggering. Yesterday, I paid a $17,000 bill for a food truck delivery. We'll probably need another delivery by midweek or sooner -- especially with our second kitchen now operating.
+ + She had not eaten in THREE DAYS...
Over the weekend, our team served a meal to a woman who hadn't eaten in THREE DAYS. She had been trapped in her house until rescue workers "finally cut through the trees to get us out." She began to weep as the Mercy Chefs team handed her a hot meal -- her first meal in days.
This story is not uncommon. People are still being rescued from their homes and food is an urgent commodity. Just up the road from us in Mexico Beach the scene is total devastation, where the priority remains search and rescue. As I write, I am working to get our team there as soon as possible and fully expect Mercy Chefs meals will be reaching even more people in the next 24 hours.
I need your help -- perhaps now more than ever! Please ask the Lord how you can help Mercy Chefs bring practical relief to disaster victims, relief workers and volunteers here in Florida. Then go here to make your tax-deductible gift.
Most importantly, PLEASE PRAY for the victims. Pray for the relief workers who are still sifting through the rubble and helping to rescue those still stranded by this unbelievable storm. And pray for our Mercy Chefs team that God will use us as an extension of His hands of love and your generosity reaching out to those in need.
Thanks, in advance, for your support.
