Yesterday morning, a very strong line of storms blew across Dallas and central Texas with hurricane-force winds and dangerous flooding. More than one million people were without power across Texas, creating the second major storm-caused power outage in the state of Texas this month.
+ + We are deploying in Texas...
Ann and I immediately headed back to Texas last night to help establish a base of emergency relief operations from Mercy Chefs' community kitchen in Dallas. Our first meals in response to this storm will go out from our community kitchen TODAY FOR LUNCH.
This latest disaster response is taking place while our team is still meeting critical needs in Claremore, Oklahoma -- and comes on the heels of providing tens of thousands of meals to storm victims in three other communities in the past 30 days.
+ + Need your help...
These storms have been coming in what feels like unrelenting waves. Here are three ways you can help Mercy Chefs right now...
First, PRAY! Millions have been impacted by these storms. Some areas are getting hit for a second time. Far too many have lost their homes. Pray for these families.
Second, will you go the extra mile with Mercy Chefs and help sponsor 10, 20, 50, or even 100 meals we'll serve today in Texas and Oklahoma? Go here to sponsor meals for families impacted by these storms:
Just $35 can help sponsor 10 hot meals for families in Texas and Oklahoma. Perhaps you can sponsor 30 meals ($105) or more. Every gift will help us feed families this week.
Third, please forward this message to concerned friends who may also want to help by sponsoring meals for our neighbors who have been impacted by these storms.
Our Mercy Chefs team has been preparing for days such as these when storms hit multiple cities simultaneously. Our Dallas community kitchen gives us even more resources that we can commit to these relief efforts. Still, every meal we serve depends of the faithfulness of friends like you. Your generous support helps make every meal possible!
Thank you in advance for your continued help, and may God bless you richly.
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
