Friday Update: Turkey-Syria Earthquake

This morning, officials reported that the death toll now exceeds 22,000, with over 19,000 lives lost in Turkey.

This exceeds the loss of life in Turkey from the devastating 1999 earthquake which impacted that nation for years to come. This entire region is in mourning while at the same time search and rescue workers continue to comb through the wreckage for survivors.

Although hope of finding survivors is growing less and less by the hour, earlier today, two young children were rescued more than 100 hours after the earthquakes hit.

Today, more Mercy Chefs team members arrive. With our partners, we have already served thousands of meals and are providing diapers, blankets, and other necessities for those who have been displaced.

As we head into this weekend, I need your help...

This weekend, Mercy Chefs and our partners will provide thousands of meals to earthquake victims. Will you sponsor 10, 20 or even 50 meals for families displaced and devastated by this disaster? Go here:

Ann and I will be departing on Sunday to join our team on the ground near the epicenter of the devastation. I'm believing for an influx of support so we can fully meet the urgent and immense need in front of us. We can only go as far as your partnership carries us. We can only reach as many people as your financial support makes possible.

Thank you in advance, and may God bless you,

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
