Our Mercy Chefs teams are back on the front lines of relief this week.
As you may know, for 10 months Mercy Chefs has been serving those impacted by the COVID pandemic and shutdown. Our teams have distributed millions of meals to hardworking families in need since the pandemic started. In community after community, we have seen long lines -- even hundreds of cars. And the unprecedented level of need across the country simply is not going away.
Over the past few weeks, Mercy Chefs began providing meals to key hospital staff in emergency rooms, ICU and COVID units. These healthcare workers are literally on the leading edge of the battle against this pandemic. Every day, they face the reality of disease and death. Already, the response and feedback we have received has been tremendous. One ER doctor wrote to tell us thanks for a chef-prepared meal and said, "Last night was a very busy shift and I did not bring food (ER docs typically do not get breaks to eat) and your food was a special treat!"
This week, we're expanding our service to COVID healthcare workers. We'll provide as many as 800 meals -- in addition to other efforts currently under way by Mercy Chefs. Also later this week, our team will be back in Honduras serving communities that are still struggling greatly from the two massive hurricanes that hit Central America late last year.
Once again, Mercy Chefs is on the front lines of relief. Will you help us as we expand our efforts to help those impacted by COVID while we continue vital outreaches like your relief efforts in Honduras? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift to Mercy Chefs:
Last month, Mercy Chefs provided well over 500,000 meals. Based on how January is starting, the demand for meals may only increase this year. As always, every meal depends on the partnership and generosity of friends like you.
Thank you and God bless,
