Behind the scenes, there is one ingredient that every Mercy Chefs deployment relies upon...

Friends like you!

I can say confidently that every meal we serve during a disaster is connected to at least two vital people beyond our core staff: a financial supporter who provides the funds to make the meal possible and a volunteer who helps us get that meal to those in need.

+ + Coming alongside to help...

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month here at Mercy Chefs and we are recognizing the vital volunteers who empower every deployment.  In just the past 12 months, our volunteers have contributed a staggering 15,000 hours to help Mercy Chefs!

Many of our staff experienced Mercy Chefs for the first time as volunteers by serving their own communities during one of our deployments. In fact, Mercy Chefs was born during my own volunteer service during Hurricane Katrina. That time volunteering in my home town of New Orleans inspired me to find a way to provide hot, chef-quality meals during disasters -- to serve hurting folks the best food in the midst of their worst disaster.

Today, volunteers remain at the very heart of everything we do...

Our volunteers are selfless, hard working and absolutely vital to every deployment. Some travel hundreds of miles to help us. They work until the job gets done, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Without our volunteers, we would only be able to serve a few hundred people a day. But with the support our volunteers provide, we’re able to feed thousands upon thousands in a single day!

Right now, we are expanding our network of volunteers so we can even better respond when disaster strikes. If you have an interest in volunteering with Mercy Chefs, simply go here to find out more and set up a volunteer profile. It takes just a few minutes.

And please know that you don't need to have any experience in food service. When the need arises, we will equip you for vital tasks under the guidance of our trained staff.

Finally, thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. We simply cannot do what we do without your partnership. Every meal we serve is directly inspired by a gift from a friend like you. When we hand a tornado victim or a hurricane victim a delicious, nutritious hot meal that brightens their day, a friend like you made it all possible!

Thank you and God bless you!

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs

P.S. This month, our team has crossed thousands of miles to feed body and soul. We've fed thousands of tornado victims as well as hurting families facing hardship here at home. And right now, our team is teaching, training and feeding from Latin America to Ukraine. We could use your help this week! Go here to help sponsor 10, 20, 50 or even 100 meals:
