The timing of this special Giving Tuesday Matching Challenge is an incredible blessing. This year alone, Mercy Chefs has already provided over 4.5 million meals during what has been an unprecedented year of outreach.
Within days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Ann and I were on the Romania-Ukraine border
as the Lord opened an amazing window of opportunity for Mercy Chefs to help get food and relief directly to hurting families on the frontlines of that horrible war! More than nine months later, we are still delivering hundreds of thousands of pounds of relief to those in need.
Mercy Chefs has also provided hundreds of thousands of meals this year to those impacted by tornadoes, wildfires, flooding and hurricanes, including our largest domestic disaster deployment ever in response to Hurricane Ian. During Ian, we provided over 200,000 hot meals and a record-setting 23,243 meals in one day. This is all in addition to our ongoing outreaches through our community kitchens to help those facing severe hardship here at home.
These outreaches have stretched and challenged our resources. This is why this amazing $100,000 Matching Challenge is such an incredible blessing. But I must raise $100,000 today to release the full $100,000 Matching Challenge gift.
