SUNDAY EVENING -- SPECIAL UPDATE
This is a very important update on Mercy Chefs' response to Hurricane Helene.
Earlier today, I made the decision to deploy a Mercy Chefs team to Asheville, North Carolina. The situation in the Asheville area is desperate and tragic. Our contacts say the flooding damage is unimaginable and looks and feels very much like the devastation after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
We are deploying a team to Asheville beginning THIS EVENING and we expect to be serving meals to those in the Asheville area as soon as Tuesday.
+ + Two major deployments now under way...
This second deployment in response to Hurricane Helene comes as our relief efforts in Florida are still ramping up. We have served thousands of meals this weekend, and I fully expect our team will serve more than 10,000 meals TOMORROW to communities across Florida's Big Bend, with no end to the need in sight.
A few days ago, I shared that the magnitude of Hurricane Helene's devastation across several states would require a FOUR-ALARM relief response. As of this evening, Mercy Chefs is in the midst of one of the largest and most significant disaster responses in our history.
That means I need the help of EVERY Mercy Chefs friend!
As we deploy a second relief team, can I count on your help?
If you haven't yet contributed to our Helene response, please consider doing so today. These moments require the prayers and partnership of every Mercy Chefs friend. If you already donated, thank you so much! Please prayerfully consider making another gift as we launch a second relief response to Helene in North Carolina.
Thanks so much for your continued prayers and support.
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
