The situation at our nation's border simply isn't improving. Political battles in our nation's capital are resulting in a humanitarian crisis at our border. And there are thousands of mothers and children who are caught in the crossfire.

Mercy Chefs has been in McAllen, Texas, for three weeks now, working to meet this urgent and at times desperate need. Today and through the weekend, Mercy Chefs will provide hundreds more meals to legal immigrants -- mostly moms and their young children. Good meals are in such demand that we have to let the people know that they do not need to hoard food -- we will be here tomorrow as well.

My heart breaks for those caught in the crossfire of a political battle that shows no signs of resolution any time soon. Mercy Chefs is entering our fourth week of non-stop service here, and I want to continue. We'll provide hundreds more hot meals through THIS WEEKEND alone, but I need help from friends like you to keep meeting this need.

Our chef team has made several adjustments to ensure that the meals we provide are the most nutritious and most enjoyed by those we are serving. By far the biggest adjustment has been meeting the incredible demand for fruit, especially by the children. These kids simply cannot get enough of whatever fruit we can provide. They'll often come back for "seconds" just for the fruit. We've added extra pallets of fresh fruit to meet this need.
