This weekend, we are wrapping up the hot meal phase of our relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia. We have already served over 60,000 meals to storm victims, volunteers and emergency workers here on Florida's Big Bend -- thanks to faithful partners like you.
I wish you could see for yourself how the generosity of friends like you helps lift the spirits of those who just saw their lives turned upside down by disaster. We see smiles returning to faces as we hand them a chef-prepared hot meal.
Quite often, those receiving a freshly cooked meal are shocked that someone took the time to prepare an excellent meal for them in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.
One woman was so overcome by her Mercy Chefs meal that she asked our team...
"What do you put in that white box? Because when I opened it, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace."
I believe this happens because our Mercy Chefs team puts so much care (along with our prayers) into the preparation of every meal. Time and time again, we see hope begin to rise up as we reach these communities that are hit by disaster. And hope is a first, vital step to recovery. Brighter days will come.
Every meal also carries with it YOUR prayers and YOUR financial support! Together, we are letting disaster victims know that they are not alone.
Thank you so much for helping us reach these people and see these smiles. It's these moments of mercy in the midst of disaster that keep us focused on our mission to Just Go Feed People.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. If you have not yet helped sponsor hot meals for Idalia victims, please do so this weekend! We still need your help. Just $35 will help sponsor 10 meals. Go here:
