The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind. I was with our first Mercy Chefs team that arrived in Lake Charles yesterday. We also have had teams arriving from Texas and Oklahoma.
I'm thrilled to report that we began serving our first meals TODAY FOR LUNCH -- about 40 hours after the storm struck Southwest Louisiana. Now, we need help from friends and partners across the country.
It breaks my heart to see so many of the same people we served when Hurricane Laura struck just a few weeks ago. It's almost unimaginable. When this storm struck, more houses than you can count were still covered with blue tarps from Hurricane Laura damage. Now, for thousands, the recovery and rebuild process must start again from scratch.
The first hours of every deployment are always critical. Thanks in advance for your help, and God bless.

P.S. Shortly after we arrived, we joined together in prayer and asked God to watch over this community and our efforts. Please be praying for the people of Lake Charles and surrounding communities. It's heart-wrenching to return to the same city for a second major hurricane within a span of just a few weeks. Thanks for your prayers and your financial support.
