The devastation brought by Hurricane Ian is eclipsing our worst fears. The storm came ashore yesterday as a Category 4 monster and has proceeded to carve its way across the Florida peninsula. The images of houses and cars floating down the streets of coastal cities are almost unimaginable. Millions of Floridians this morning are without power. And although not confirmed, a Lee County sheriff said this morning that “fatalities are in the hundreds.
As the storm passes, Mercy Chefs has three mobile kitchens deploying here in Florida to the areas of greatest need.
This is one of the worst hurricanes ever to come ashore in the United States and I'm going to need the help of every Mercy Chefs friend as we begin serving chef-prepared meals to emergency workers and hurricane victims.
