We just compiled our internal report for January, and I was quite amazed.

Mercy Chefs served more than 16,000 meals in the month of January alone!

January can typically be one of our slower times. But not this year, and based on what I believe the Lord is doing, it's "full speed ahead" every month of 2020.

Many of those meals were served in Puerto Rico as our team responded the the ongoing earthquakes there (the island was rocked by another quake on Tuesday registering 5.0 on the Richter scale). Thousands are still homeless because their homes are uninhabitable or they simply are still terrified to sleep indoors! Our work there continues through our key partnering relationships that we actually established more than two years ago after Hurricane Maria hit.

Meanwhile in Panama City, Mercy Chefs is there providing lodging and hot meals to teams of volunteers who are still helping to rebuild this community. We are working hand-in-hand with a number of disaster relief groups, providing the base of operations for their teams. We are also feeding hundreds of kids every day. Many of these children still have not seen their lives return to normal since the hurricane hit, and recently a local pastor shared with us that dozens of kids in a local high school are still homeless.

And in Virginia, the community kitchen we formally launched in August last year is EXPLODING. Just this past month, we served 3,400 meals, many of those meals going to impoverished children who simply would not otherwise receive a nutritious meal.

But here's our reality. This month we'll serve thousands more meals. And we need friends like you to partner with us every time we reach out to "feed body and soul."
