Our teams will serve thousands more meals over the next 24 hours. Please prayerfully consider helping to sponsor 10, 20 or even 50 meals, and see below for the latest. --Gary
The other day, our Chef John was delivering meals on a street where an intact house stood next to a heap of flaky ashes. We met folks whose homes had been spared total destruction yet their neighbors' homes were burned completely to the ground. The seemingly random nature of disaster can take a toll on those who survive with their lives and homes.
John and our team personally handed meals to folks in these communities who just endured the most horrifying tragedy of their lives. We prayed with each person and let them know they are not alone.
+ + Need urgent...
The need here is still urgent. We keep hearing of more and more folks who have lived on canned goods since the fires swept through. Some swam for hours in the ocean to avoid the fires. They said their goodbyes before being rescued by the Coast Guard.
As I write, it's still early morning in Maui. Our Mercy Chefs teams are already hard at work preparing for what will be another very full day of providing hot meals from two locations across Maui and also going into neighborhoods.
Once again, I'm turning to friends like you.
Will you help Mercy Chefs as we serve those whose lives have been impacted so terribly by this tragedy? Even $35 will help us deliver 10 hot meals this week. Perhaps you can do more. Every gift will help. Go here to help feed Maui wildfire victims:
If you recently donated, THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you can help again, it would be a great blessing to the families here. If you haven't yet donated for Maui wildfire relief, please do so today! We need every Mercy Chefs friend partnering with us right now.
Finally, please pray for the people here. The entire island is still very much in shock, especially those in Lahaina where the flames overtook their homes in a matter of hours. And pray for our team as we serve as an extension of your prayers and your generosity to help this hurting community.
Thank you so much, and may God bless you,
