We're headed back to Florida, and I need your help.
Here's what happened.
Ever since we left, I have been in close contact with city officials in Panama City, Calloway and Lynn Haven, and they have been asking us to return and help soften the blow of the ongoing recovery during the holidays. The holidays are the toughest time of all for folks who have lost everything or are still in the midst of extensive repairs -- as most people in these communities are!
+ + Why I must go back...
City leaders want to provide thousands of meals next weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday, and they have asked Mercy Chefs to partner with them. For me, it was an easy decision. We're going!
I can honestly say that our deployment in response to Hurricane Michael gripped my heart like few others. Perhaps it was the scope of the devastation -- miles and miles of homes and businesses and churches devastated. Perhaps it was seeing so many children wandering the streets, unsure about what just happened and what would happen next. Perhaps it was the fact that the national media was nowhere to be seen just a few days after the storm, leaving these people feeling very much alone in their crisis.
All I know is. I must go back. City leaders are imploring us to come. And I want to meet this need.
But to do so, I need your help.
As you know, our responses to Hurricanes Michael (Florida) and Florence (North and South Carolina) depleted our resources. After serving nearly 150,000 meals, our finances are stretched to the max. But I feel we must respond and help these good folks in Florida. So I'm stepping out in faith and moving ahead with our re-deployment to the Panhandle.
Will you help?
It costs about $25 to provide five full holiday meals; $50 helps sponsor 10 holiday meals; $100 will help us serve 20 holiday meals. Maybe you can help more and sponsor 100 meals ($500), 200 meals ($1,000) or more. That would be a great blessing!
Every gift makes a difference to a child or a family member still reeling from this devastating storm -- especially coming over the holidays.
Finally, please PRAY for our team as we return. I believe God will do great things through your generosity as we provide hot holiday meals as a tangible expression of His love.
God bless!

P.S. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we'll be back in Florida serving thousands of meals. But I need your help. Our resources are depleted from serving 150,000 meals this fall, but I'm stepping out in faith. Please help me go back to devastated Florida! Go here to make your gift:
