A massive earthquake has ripped through Turkey and Syria, leaving thousands dead and tens if not hundreds of thousands facing extreme hardship.

One earthquake victim said the strike was "like the apocalypse." Search and rescue workers are digging through rubble for survivors while also fighting frigid temperatures.
