Friday A.M., from Mayfield
****IMPORTANT SITUATION REPORT FROM MERCY CHEFS****
I want to update you on our situation as we head into a very challenging weekend.
+ + Mayfield Tornado Update: the weather and the kids...
First, the weather has become a major issue. Forecasters are now expecting two inches of rain to fall before the rain finally subsides some time tomorrow -- after which, a cold blast will settle in.
This is making conditions extremely difficult here in Mayfield, especially for those whose homes were damaged but not totally destroyed. Many are doing everything they can to salvage their homes, but the rain is soaking everything. And with power not expected to be restored until NEXT WEEK, the coming cold blast will present a new set of challenges.
Mercy Chefs is here. We're doing everything we can to feed as many tornado victims and volunteers as possible. But to continue these efforts, we need your help!
We have thousands of meals to prepare and distribute today through the weekend for tornado victims and volunteers. Will you help? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift to help sponsor 10, 20, 50 or even 100 hot meals for tornado victims and volunteers as we also continue other efforts:
+ + Update #2: Reaching out in Louisiana, Tennessee and Virginia
At the same time, we have another Mercy Chefs team deployed right now in Louisiana for a major Christmas outreach. We'll be providing 8,000+ full Christmas dinners to Hurricane Ida victims who are still struggling to recover from that massive storm. This is the equivalent of another full deployment -- with our staff and equipment and a team of volunteers. In addition, our community kitchens in Tennessee and Virginia continue to provide relief for hurting families as we head toward Christmas.
Plus... we just finished up a very significant outreach in Honduras where we brought hot, chef-prepared meals deep into the mountain villages that were devastated by the hurricanes last year. Our team was also honored to provide each child with a Christmas gift and groceries for their family. A local leader said the kids had never experienced such a special day.
As you can see, only with the Lord's strength and YOUR PARTNERSHIP can Mercy Chefs have multiple teams working to bring practical relief to so many hurting people.
Will you help Mercy Chefs serve THOUSANDS of meals this weekend? Go here to sponsor hot meals, and thanks in advance for your continued partnership.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
