Saturday Morning
The surge at the border is creating an impossible situation for our partners who are doing everything in their power to respond to the urgent need. Our team is serving meals TODAY and we need help. Go here to help and see below for details. --Gary
The border surge that started earlier this year is really making things difficult -- almost impossible. Checkpoints that were receiving dozens on a typical day just a few months ago are now seeing as many as 3,000 or even 4,000 people every day.
The whole situation is tragic. This is shaping up to be a human disaster, and it's moms and their children who are caught in this geopolitical crossfire.
+ + First meals TODAY
As you know, Mercy Chefs just deployed to McAllen, Texas. Our team arrived yesterday and we will be serving our first meals LATER TODAY. Our partners on the ground have been relying on local churches, but they just don't have the resources to feed the number of people who need help. Mercy Chefs is filling in this gap.
By tomorrow, I expect we'll be serving 1,000 meals daily. That number could double or even triple.
Simply put, we need help this weekend to meet the need.
Will you reach out with God's love and compassion with me to help mothers and children who are caught in the crossfire of this tragedy? Just $50 will help us provide 20 hot meals starting this weekend. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:
These people are being processed through our legal immigration channels and are caught in this geopolitical crossfire. I can't turn my back. While the politicians sort this out, we have a tangible opportunity to impact people's lives... to reach out with Jesus' love... to be His hands and feet!
For Mercy Chefs, this is the equivalent of a full deployment during a natural disaster. This entire deployment wasn't on our radar before Monday. But I received a call from our friends in McAllen and they urgently needed help. So we're responding.
Thanks in advance for your help and for your prayers. Your partnership with Mercy Chefs is making a real difference in so many lives.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. Our partners in McAllen have provided a kitchen that will serve as our base of operations. But the kitchen needs some significant upgrading. Specifically, we need to pull out some old equipment, install a tilt skillet, and perform other upgrades so we can meet the need and provide potentially thousands of meals daily. These are expensive items. If the Lord has blessed you and you can donate $500, $1,000, $2,500, or more, it would be a great blessing right now. Of course, every gift will help.
