Hurricane Francine has rapidly developed in the Gulf of Mexico and is now forecast to make landfall along the Louisiana coast later today.
The National Weather Service is warning of "life-threatening storm surge" along with "damaging and life-threatening hurricane-force winds" in Louisiana. Heavy rains and flooding are also a risk that extends to New Orleans. There could be widespread impacts from this storm.
+ + We are mobilizing...
Our Mercy Chefs team has been closely monitoring this storm as it has developed. Yesterday, I directed our team to begin mobilizing both staff and our mobile feeding equipment to just outside the expected strike area.
Ann and I are in transit to Louisiana today. If the storm hits later today as has been forecasted, Mercy Chefs will immediately deploy with first meals being served as soon as Thursday.
Would you consider making a special gift today as we prepare for Francine? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:
The first 48-72 hours after a storm hits are the most critical time for our relief efforts. That's why we are getting our team in position today. And that's why your support right now is so vital.
Thank you for your faithful support.
