Meet Rosie. She's why we do what we do...
We first met Rosie last year after Hurricane Idalia devastated central Florida. She was living in a waterlogged shed that had no power. Rosie and her son were in survival mode, unsure of where their next meal would come from.
Our Mercy Chefs team delivered several hot meals to Rosie right in the midst of the worst crisis of her life. Rosie had neighbors who were also suffering, and we noticed that she started giving the meals away. So every day, our team returned with more meals -- enough for Rosie and her neighbors.
Last fall, we returned to Rosie's community for a major Family Grocery Box outreach. We were thrilled to see that Rosie is doing much better. She now lives in a much safer and secure environment, and is expecting another child! And she is still concerned for her neighbors.
So we provided Rosie with extra Family Grocery Boxes so she could share them with others in her community.
{{recipient.first_name_or_friend}}, in a very real way, these Family Grocery Boxes are just as important as the hot meals we serve during disasters. Each box contains tangible hope -- enough food to feed a family for about a week. For a struggling family, provision for 20 meals can bridge the gap to the next pay check and make sure the kids are well fed.
This year, I want to double or even triple the number of families we reach and meals we provide through these Family Grocery Boxes.
Will you help?
The look on parents' faces when they realize their children won’t go hungry this week is the driving force behind each and every Family Grocery Box we deliver.
Thanks in advance, and God bless!
P.S. If you haven't done so already, this is a great time to make a recurring donation to Mercy Chefs. Your monthly gift of $35 will help us provide 20 meals to 12 families over the course of a year -- families like Rosie's. Perhaps you can sponsor two families monthly ($70). Simply select "monthly" when completing your gift. Of course, every gift will help. Go here:
