Yesterday, Good Morning America aired live from our re-deployment location in LaPlace. If you missed that broadcast, go here to see the segment that included Mercy Chefs' relief efforts that friends like you have made possible:
I want to commend the entire GMA team for shining the national spotlight on the devastation that took place from Ida, as well as the long road to recovery the people here are still facing. Especially in the more rural areas, the recovery will take years. That's why Mercy Chefs is exploring ways to replicate the long-term response strategy that we developed in Florida after Hurricane Michael where we maintained a significant presence more than two years after the storm struck.
These communities still need our help this weekend, and will need our help in the weeks and months to come. I want to be here for these folks, but I need your support to make this happen.
Every time we deploy in the aftermath of a major disaster like Hurricane Ida, the level of need is almost overwhelming. Our only response is to take each day as it comes, and meet the needs in front of us. That's what we are doing today, thanks to friends like you. And with your help, we will continue to feed people "body and soul" here in Louisiana and across America.
