Ann and I arrived in Louisiana yesterday just as Hurricane Francine was making landfall. Click on the image below for my special report:
The storm hit hard and continues to cut a path through the state. This morning, 390,000 customers are without power. That means 800,000 or more people currently are in the dark.
Mercy Chefs teams staged yesterday just outside the area where the storm came ashore and we are moving quickly today to establish our base of operations. I'm expecting we will serve our first hot meals to families impacted by Francine THIS EVENING or by lunch tomorrow.
We need help today. I'm fully expecting we will serve thousands of meals through this weekend.
Mercy Chefs was birthed out of Hurricane Katrina, and Louisiana is my home. So the next several days are going to be full of memories for me, both good and bad.
Time and time again, Louisiana has been hit by storms, and thanks to friends like you, Mercy Chefs has responded.
Please pray for the people of Louisiana. Cover them with God's protection. And I ask you to continue to stand with Mercy Chefs.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. I'll have more details shortly. For now, please pray and consider sponsoring meals as we mobilize to serve families impacted by Francine.
