This is a bit shocking. Millions of unemployed Americans may still be waiting for their first unemployment check. See below and please help. --Gary
I received this report from my team just before the July 4th holiday weekend:
I am amazed at what God is doing through the faithful partnership of friends like you. There seems to be no end in sight to the opportunities before us to help hurting people. As of last week, Mercy Chefs surpassed FOUR MILLION meals since our founding -- just a few months after we served our third million.
But this leaves me with an enormous challenge this month and for the rest of the summer...
+ + Millions have yet to receive help
The economic devastation caused by the COVID crisis has left far too many people in an urgent place of need. One state is reporting "a mammoth backlog of workers who have yet to receive any benefits despite being out of work for weeks or months." The sad reality is, millions of Americans may have been out of work since the beginning of the COVID crisis with NO FINANCIAL HELP!
In one of the communities we are serving, we have enough resources lined up to fill truckloads of food for the next 4-6 weeks. The community kitchen at our headquarters in Virginia is gearing up for a new wave of outreach as we work to meet a feeding need that persists months after the shutdown began. And our "Farmers to Families" bases of operation could easily reach another HALF MILLION people this month.
In all, before the summer is over, Mercy Chefs could provide another 750,000 to 1.5 million meals -- and this does not include any additional emergency response that may be needed due to wildfires, hurricanes, or other natural disasters.
That means I still urgently need help from faithful friends of this ministry THIS MONTH to meet critical needs in July.
Will you help?
Here's what I'm asking you to do...
Would you prayerfully consider making a tax-deductible contribution of $30, $50, $100 or more today to help us provide the meals we have scheduled over the next several days?
The need is still quite urgent. Far too many Americans are without jobs and some states are putting in place stricter lockdowns which makes more shut-in seniors in need of help. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift directly to Mercy Chefs:
Because we are leveraging resources like never before, your gift will help us reach even more people:
- $30 helps feed 60 PEOPLE during this crisis
- $50 helps feed 100 PEOPLE
- $75 helps feed 150 PEOPLE
- $100 helps feed 200 PEOPLE
Finally, thank you so much for your faithful partnership with Mercy Chefs. These are historically difficult times, yet the Lord is using Mercy Chefs in unique ways to meet what has been an unprecedented need. I'm so grateful for friends like you, because all of this would not be possible without faithful partners.
I look forward to hearing from you, and God bless!
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. Perhaps you would even consider matching or even exceeding the largest gift you've made recently to Mercy Chefs. The need is that critical and so is this time in our nation's history. With tensions running higher than we've seen in decades, we must find ways to reach out with God's love to help heal hurting hearts. Go here to help:
