Hurricane Debby hit Florida's Big Bend hard! The storm came ashore with both high winds and more than a foot of rain, causing HUNDREDS to be stranded and in need of rescue by emergency workers.
That means many, many families have been forced from their homes and are in need of support....

Our Mercy Chefs team established our base of relief efforts in Live Oak, Florida (pictured here),
and immediately began setting up our kitchens and equipment.
The need here is critical. Flooding has forced many from their homes.
As I write, we are on schedule to serve our first hot meals here THIS EVENING for dinner to families and emergency workers.

I'm expecting that our teams will be distributing meals to communities across a wide geographical area, all the way to the coast.
Meanwhile, as forecasted, Debby has essentially stalled and is expected to dump two feet or more of rain along the southeast coast. A state of emergency is already in effect for South Carolina, and Mercy Chefs has a second team on standby to provide relief there.
As I noted yesterday, these first 72 hours of a major deployment are often most critical. In this case, we could find ourselves deployed in two locations across hundreds of miles.
Please pray for those who are feeling the brunt of this storm. Hundreds of families have been rescued from their homes due to rising water. With the rain still falling, we do not yet know the full impact of this storm.
