Today we are taking over meal service for the Dixie Fire evacuees from our base of operations in Susanville, CA.
As you can see, our base (blue marker on map) is just east of this massive fire that continues to grow by the hour. Winds of up to 50mph over the weekend and temperatures reaching 100 degrees today have made conditions ripe for more expansion of this fire.
The Dixie Fire now has consumed 569,000 acres and the power company is weighing a decision to shut off power to several more counties that could create tens of thousands more fire refugees.
We are now serving hot meals to families who have been forced to evacuate from the Dixie Fire, and we need your help TODAY!
The images coming out of Greenville are devastating. As much as 75% of that community was lost to the fire. Thousands of firefighters are working to save other vulnerable communities. And new evacuation and power shutoff orders could cause tens of thousands of people to suddenly be homeless.
Mercy Chefs is on site in Susanville SERVING MEALS TODAY.
Now, we need your help.
Go here to sponsor 10, 20, 50 or even 100 meals -- even more if you can!
And please pray for those in the path of these fires as well as the firefighters and other emergency personnel.
God bless,
Gary
