Just a quick note...

Simply put, we still need help from friends across the country just to meet the need we are facing this Thanksgiving and into the Christmas season.

Since this past Saturday, our Mercy Chefs team has been serving full Thanksgiving dinners to Hurricane Ida victims. At these events, we also do extra things to make the holidays more special for the children who are the innocent victims of disaster or economic difficulty. Here in Louisiana, we had special games, bounce houses and face painting for the kids.

Our team will be here through Thanksgiving Day. In all, we'll serve about 7,500 Thanksgiving dinners to this community that was hit so hard by the storm and is still at the very beginnings of its recovery.

Also, this week a Mercy Chefs team provided Thanksgiving Dinner as part of an outreach in Virginia to hurting families. We prepared a delicious holiday meal with roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce.

In all, this holiday season, we expect to provide over 15,000 meals. But as of this morning, we are still short of our goal of having every meal sponsored by friends like you.
