The level of devastation and despair in Honduras right now is difficult to even communicate.

Two massive hurricanes and ongoing rains have actually caused FOUR FLOODS. In some of the areas Mercy Chefs is serving, the streets are still muddy and flooded. In one such community, La Lima, a church has set up a feeding center that is reaching 136 children. Our team went door-to-door and distributed hot meals to folks who are still desperately reeling from the storm.

We noticed that one lady who came for meals was walking through the mud without any shoes. We asked her where she had taken up refuge and she pointed to a school across the street. But the flooding is so bad that even the shelter where she was staying was blanketed in mud. To make matters worse, the whole area is contaminated. The smell is almost unbearable. It just isn't safe to be without shoes.

So our Mercy Chefs team member took off her boots, rinsed them off, and gave them to the woman.

What's happening in Honduras is heartbreaking and humbling. But at this point of desperate need, every gift offered in love is making a huge difference.

I don't know what else to say, other than please prayerfully consider how you can help Mercy Chefs right now as we work to meet this incredible need while we feed thousands here at home. Then go here to make your tax-deductible gift:

Those boots might be a lifesaver, and certainly helped this woman hold on to some sense of dignity in the midst of very desperate conditions. And stories like this are happening again and again as Mercy Chefs provides meals, survival packs, drinking water and other resources to thousands every day.

We're actually reaching communities that have been WITHOUT FOOD for days! The meals and supplies you help us provide are easing suffering and hardship right now.

Thank you so much for partnering with Mercy Chefs at this critical time and in this vital way. May God richly bless you for blessing others.

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs

P.S. We just found out about more shelters. Every day seems to bring more need. Please help and thanks in advance. Go here:
