Tuesday Afternoon from Pensacola
There has been one thing in particular we've seen every day here in Pensacola that haunts me... it breaks my heart.
Every day, we see what seems like a never-ending stream of mothers with young children walking to Mercy Chefs to receive hot meals. It’s heartbreaking. This is definitely not a place for children, especially given all that has happened in this community with this storm and the flooding. The mothers do their best to try to protect their kids from the pain. They are like mother birds with their wings over their babies, trying to shield them from the worst of the situation.
But we see the pain on the faces of these moms. And it tears at our hearts. For the past few days, more moms than I can count have waited in the rain just to receive a meal that our chefs prepared and friends like you made possible. It's very humbling and it makes me want to do even more to ease the pain.
That's why we're back at it today, serving thousands of meals to these moms, their kids, and other hurting folks here in Pensacola. We'll also be providing 2,000 additional meals for delivery in bulk in communities that have requested our help.
Once again, I need the help of friends like you...

In the midst of preparing thousands of meals this morning, we also paused to pay our respects to a veteran who lost his life recently. Many local law enforcement officers were on hand as well. These storms take their toll in many ways. Even grieving can be more difficult.
Thank you so much for partnering with Mercy Chefs as we serve the people here in Pensacola and surrounding communities. Every day, our hearts are breaking. And every day we see signs of hope going forth through the meals you are helping provide, delivered by our team in love.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
