Eastern cities of Ukraine continue to see intense fighting, often street by street, between Russian and Ukrainian forces. According to a local official, Lysychansk is facing severe attacks:
"A total destruction of the city is underway,
Russian shelling has intensified significantly over the past 24 hours. Russians are using scorched earth tactics."
The city of Kharkiv -- which has been a focus of some of the most intense Russian attacks -- saw more shelling earlier today. Kharkiv's mayor said that Russia "does not leave Kharkiv alone and constantly keeps people in fear." This is one of the heartbreaking outcomes of war -- the trauma of fear. Will the next mortar hit my home? Will the night raids ever end? Where will we find food for our family tomorrow?
As you may recall, Mercy Chefs and our partners have delivered thousands of pounds of food from our warehouse on the Romanian border directly to Kharkiv and surrounding communities. Your partnership with Mercy Chefs is making it possible for relief to get to some of the most urgent places of need in Ukraine. And this week we are continuing to reach those deep inside Ukraine with food and vital resources.
Over the next 14 days, we'll help deliver tens of thousands more pounds of food to Ukrainians who are still struggling on the very front lines of this war.
I'm so grateful for every friend who has partnered with us over these three months to get relief to those inside Ukraine. I'm asking again because the need is still great, and I want to reach even more people if possible -- especially with the attacks still under way and this massive campaign of fear and intimidation seeming to have no end.
Please help as you can. And join me in praying for an end to this horrific war.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc
