I prepared a special video report for you from our Mercy Chefs base of operations in Surfside, Florida:
+ + Unimaginable
As you may know, we have been tasked as the only feeder for the search teams. We just relocated our base of operations to be a little closer to site. New federal and state task force teams are here now.
The work these search and rescue teams are doing is unimaginable. Day after day they are back on the pile of rubble, searching through the wreckage so that the grieving families can have closure. The dedication of these teams is like nothing I've ever seen in my life.
Mercy Chefs is going to be here for the long haul. Now I need your help to fulfill this critical mission!
Yesterday was a sad day as the mayor announced that the efforts had officially transitioned to "recovery." The death toll now stands at 52 with 84 still unaccounted for. The families are grieving. The entire community is still hurting. But the work continues.
Our team is preparing another meal as I write. Please pray for the families. And help us provide hot meals to the search teams.
May the Lord bless you as you bless others,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. Family and friends have set up a memorial near the site in honor of those who lost their lives. The work here continues so we can give these families closure. Thanks in advance for your help.
