Last month, severe flooding impacted Porto Alegre in southern Brazil. The flooding affected more than 2 million people, caused over 600,000 to flee from their homes, and took the lives of more than 170 people.
Mercy Chefs Global arrived in Porto Alegre at the peak of the flooding. We partnered with a local church to help establish a kitchen to feed families who had been displaced by the flood.
Serving meals for 40 days...
Our team has been helping to serve meals in Porto Alegre for 40 days non-stop, and the need remains great. Our church partner is relying on our chefs to keep the feeding program on track providing thousands of high-quality, safe meals for those left homeless from the flooding.
This has turned into an extended deployment. The costs are mounting and come at a time when Mercy Chefs has been in near constant deployment in response to disasters here at home.
Would you consider making a special gift today to help Mercy Chefs continue to provide meals to Brazilian families left homeless by the unprecedented flooding? Go here to help with emergency relief for Brazil flood victims:
The magnitude of this flooding disaster is immense. Thousands upon thousands still need help.
I want Mercy Chefs to be there for the people of Brazil. But we never anticipated such an extended deployment. Please pray for the people and help as you can.
God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
