The devastation brought on by Iota across Honduras is almost unimaginable. By all accounts, the flooding was worse from this storm than from Eta which hit just a few weeks ago. Dozens have perished and thousands upon thousands are facing a struggle just to survive. Many have lost their homes and belongings, and are now engaged in a daily battle just to survive with no reliable access to food or drinking water.

Mercy Chefs continues to work in hard-hit Comayagua with our partner churches who are providing Family Survival Meal Packs as well as thousands of gallons of drinking water through our water purification units. We have been asked by a local mayor and a pastor to provide meals at two area shelters for those who have sought refuge in these facilities. Mercy Chefs is sending the resources to help provide the food and other supplies needed, including medicine and diapers.

My heart is breaking for these people. This is one of the worst disasters we have seen, and for many, Mercy Chefs and our partners on the ground are the only relief efforts that have reached these people. We are sending more personnel to Honduras next week, including one of our chefs who will be overseeing the meal preparation efforts. But right now -- this weekend -- we need to help meet the absolutely critical needs of food and fresh water.

Can you help? We depend on the generosity and support of friends like you for every meal and every gallon of fresh drinking water we are helping to provide to hurricane victims in Honduras.

Please prayerfully consider how you can help, and then go here to make your tax-deductible gift directly to Mercy Chefs as we respond in Honduras and continue other vital efforts:

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support on behalf of these hurting people.

May God bless you,

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs

P.S. Our efforts in Honduras focus on helping people who have lost everything. Your gift this weekend will make a real difference. Just $50 can help feed FIVE hurting families of four in Honduras for FIVE DAYS; $100 helps us feed TEN FAMILIES for five days. Go here.

P.P.S. This has been a year unlike any other! Even as we are helping hurricane victims in Honduras, Mercy Chefs is working to provide thousands of holiday meals to communities here in America that have been hard hit by disaster this year. This weekend, we are back in Lake Charles, Louisiana (which was also hit by two hurricanes!), providing ready-to-heat holiday meals for families who are still in the early stages of recovery. Over the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, Mercy Chefs will serve thousands of holiday meals, and we need your help. To help sponsor holiday meals, go here:
