Conditions in Texas are treacherous. Airports are closed. Power outages are still widespread. Many areas are seeing LONG LINES for food and other essentials. The blackouts have caused water pipes to burst in the cold temperatures leaving homes, apartments and buildings flooded and ruined. Some of those with power are housing 20 or more neighbors just to help people get through this crisis.

As I write, we are in Birmingham, Alabama, loading a truck with groceries as we can't get deliveries in Texas yet. Based on the dire need on the ground here, I have decided to deploy TWO MERCY CHEFS MOBILE KITCHENS immediately, including our newest kitchen. Both kitchens are on the road today. We will actually have THREE TEAMS operating throughout the massive geographic area of Greater Dallas and are preparing for 10,000 meals per day but we may need to do even more.

We need the help of every Mercy Chefs friend right now as we respond to this winter weather crisis. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift and help provide hot meals to Texas storm victims while we continue other vital efforts.

And if you missed my message from yesterday, see below for more details.

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs

P.S. As the snow and ice moves east, we're also responding in North Carolina and central Virginia where a new storm arrives today and some folks have been without power since the weekend. We need every Mercy Chefs friend to partner with us as we stand with those who are struggling right now. Go here:

WE ARE DEPLOYING TO FROZEN TEXAS. SEE BELOW -- Gary

Texas and the southern plains have been devastated by bitter cold and a series of winter storms that have crippled the region. As of right now, 3.4 MILLION homes are without power in Texas. That means the total number of Texans without power could be 2-4 times that number as the 3.4 million represents electric customers.

Many have been without power for days and they are freezing. Pipes have burst. Lives have been shattered. Snow and ice are blanketing the region today.

Late last night I made the decision to mobilize Mercy Chefs to help bring relief to those in the Dallas area who have been hit hard by the cold weather and storms. We are partnering with a local church and I hope to be providing meals starting on Friday.

I will have more details soon, but right now I'm asking for your help. We are mobilizing IN ADDITION to our meal box distributions that are scheduled for Oklahoma and Arkansas -- plus more distributions starting in Virginia.

Will you partner with Mercy Chefs as we mobilize to serve hot meals in Texas and also provide critical relief in neighboring states that have been hit hard by the bitter temperatures and storms? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:

Many are in crisis. I want to do as much as possible to help right now.

Please prayerfully consider how you can partner with us to bring relief to frozen Texas, and thanks in advance for your support.

Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs

P.S. The Dallas area is currently under a winter storm warning, meaning more snow and (even worse) ice that will take down power lines and cause more outages. We are deploying to provide hot meals. Go here to help:
