Today, Mercy Chefs is continuing to provide hot meals for the many volunteers who have come to the Dayton area to help with the recovery after a "swarm" of tornadoes hit this region. Lunch today was just amazing as we have been delivering meals
out into the neighborhoods where volunteers are busy helping those who are still trying to get their bearings straight in the aftermath of the storm.
I wish you could have seen what I saw today in the grateful faces of those we are helping -- especially when we bring a chef-prepared, hot meal to them and not just emergency "rations"! For example, here is what was on the Mercy Chefs menu today:
Root beer injected pork with a pineapple herb glaze, sweet potato and white potato mash, fresh green beans with onions and bacon, fresh roll, and watermelon.
Because our chefs and volunteers take the time to prepare meals like this, it sends a powerful message that someone really cares! People often accept these meals with tears in their eyes. They almost can't believe that in the midst of the chaos and the tragedy and the difficulty, they can stop and enjoy an excellent meal.
It's the best part of what we do -- extending love and compassion and a hot meal to those in need as we feed "body and soul."
I'm so grateful to everyone who has stood with us this weekend, but there's more work to be done. As I write, our team is busy preparing dinner. As in all our deployments, as the word spreads, more and more people come to Mercy Chefs for help.
I can still use your help THIS WEEKEND and as we start the new week here in Ohio. Your gift will make a difference right away as we partner to bring relief to tornado victims and continue other vital efforts. Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:
Your gift right now is so critical. While we work to meet this need in Ohio, Mercy Chefs is also getting ready to launch our "Beacon Of Hope" efforts in Florida to provide much-needed support to thousands of children still homeless as a result of Hurricane Michael. Just $50 can help provide 20 meals; $100 feeds 40 people. Perhaps you can do more. Your gift of $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more right now will make a huge difference.
Thank you and God bless you!
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. As I was delivering meals this afternoon in the midst of the worst of the devastation here in Ohio, my thoughts turned to friends like you. Your prayers and your generosity literally make it possible for Mercy Chefs to "stand in the gap" and meet these needs. If you already sent a gift to help us here in Ohio, THANK YOU! If not, please do so today! Go here:
