I want to let you know what the generosity of friends like you is doing THIS WEEK to help hurting families across the nation.
Amazingly, Mercy Chefs has now provided over 600,000 meals during our coronavirus response -- clearly the largest outreach in our history. Some time this month, we will serve the 3 millionth meal since our founding!
Of course, for us it is always about the people we are helping and right now the need is unprecedented. The heightened tensions we have seen in our nation over the past few weeks have only increased the urgent need for practical relief a need created in large part by 40 million lost jobs since the start of this crisis. A very recent U.S. Census survey revealed that a shocking 12 million households with children report not having enough food to eat.
Clearly, this current crisis will likely continue for weeks or even months.
That's why I'm turning to friends like you once again. As I write, we are getting ready to open our second "Farmers to Families" location on the Florida Panhandle. In addition to bringing relief to the surrounding Florida communities, this location will also help hard-hit rural areas in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
This week alone, Mercy Chefs will provide over 100,000 meals, but we can only continue these efforts with the faithful partnership of friends like you.
Would you prayerfully consider how you can help us reach hungry kids, hurting families, and elderly shut-ins by the thousands THIS WEEK? Go here to make your best tax-deductible gift to Mercy Chefs:
Please note that EVERY GIFT WILL HELP. If you can give $25, that will help provide real meals to real people in need. Perhaps you can donate $50, $100, or more. Every dollar will be put to work helping our hurting neighbors across the country.
Finally, thank you so much for your prayers and your faithful financial support. With the continued help of friends like you, Mercy Chefs will reach tens and even hundreds of thousands more in the coming weeks.
Thank you again, and God bless you!
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. I've included a few recent photos of some of the children in Dallas who are on the receiving end of your generosity. For so many during this time, receiving fresh produce and real protein is an enormous blessing. We see moms who are almost overwhelmed with gratitude because they'll have real food, and real meals for their kids. On behalf of all the people Mercy Chefs is reaching right now, thanks for prayerfully considering how you can help this week!
I also want to let you know that we are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Cristobal which has formed in the southwestern part of the Gulf of Mexico and poses a threat to the Gulf states possibly this weekend. I will keep you informed if and when this storm poses a direct threat to the U.S.
