kidsI'm so humbled and grateful.

On Thursday, I shared with you about our heartache of leaving Florida after more than three weeks on the ground following one of the most devastating hurricanes we have witnessed. But our physical and human resources were simply exhausted, and we were still dealing with a financial shortfall from this deployment, and especially from our final push of 15,000 meals this week.

Well, I heard from my staff that many dear friends stepped forward to ensure we met our needs for this final week of deployment. In fact, the generosity of Mercy Chefs partners exceeded our needs for this week, allowing us to apply funds to the overall cost of serving these 100,000 meals here.

It touches my heart to know that friends like you share our passion for meeting the practical need of "feeding body and soul" in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. This was one of the most difficult and most rewarding deployments in Mercy Chefs' history -- and friends like you made every meal and every opportunity to serve and every prayer of support for a struggling disaster victim possible.

So much is just ahead. We'll be back in Florida soon -- for the holidays, if not sooner. In fact, over the next two months, Mercy Chefs will serve tens of thousands of meals to children and families in need.

In the coming days, I'll be asking you to prayerfully consider partnering with Mercy Chefs in a special way that would transform this ministry and enable us to reach more people than ever before. Be watching for that update.

But right now, please accept my heartfelt thanks for helping to carry us through this final week in Florida, and for your support as Mercy Chefs served more than 100,000 meals in response to Hurricane Michael.

God bless!

P.S. We are still calculating the total costs of our massive deployment in Florida and serving 100,000 meals. Truth be told, the grocery bills alone have been staggering. We still need help to fully fund this deployment and get Mercy Chefs ready for our next outreaches. If you want to help, it's not too late! Go here to make your tax-deductible gift, and thanks again!
